A clinic built differently.

ALGN is a chiropractic and massage clinic at 236–238 High Road, Loughton, IG10 1RB. We opened because we saw too many people cycling through treatment without ever getting better — short appointments, symptom-only focus, no exit plan.

We approach things differently. Every treatment at ALGN begins with a thorough assessment — not just where it hurts, but why it hurts. We look at movement patterns, load history, lifestyle, and goals before we design a treatment plan.

We combine chiropractic care with sports massage, soft tissue therapy, and exercise rehabilitation. These disciplines work together. We don't silo them.

Most patients achieve meaningful improvement within 4–6 sessions — though we understand that everyone is different and treatment is always individual to you. We measure progress from your first visit and adjust accordingly. There is no fixed programme; your timeline will always reflect your specific presentation, history, and goals.

How we work

Our clinical approach.

Assessment first

We take time to understand your movement patterns, load history, and goals before any treatment begins. Diagnosis precedes treatment, always.

Evidence-based

Our methods are grounded in current clinical research. We don't rely on habit or tradition — we use what the evidence shows works.

Integrated care

Chiropractic, massage, and rehabilitation work as a system. We coordinate these to address both the symptom and the underlying cause.

Goal-led treatment

We agree measurable goals with you at the start. Progress is tracked. Treatment frequency adjusts based on results, not routine.

Discharge planning

We plan your exit from treatment at the beginning, not the end. Independence from ongoing care is always the goal.

Regulated professionals

All chiropractors at ALGN are registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). Our massage therapists hold recognised professional qualifications.

Our Loughton clinic specialises in musculoskeletal conditions — from acute sports injuries to chronic postural pain built up over years of sedentary work.

Common presentations include sciatica, lower back pain, neck pain, tennis elbow, headaches, and sports injuries. We also see patients with postural tension from desk-based work environments across Essex.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions.

What actually happens at the first appointment?

Mostly an assessment. We take a full history — your symptoms, how they started, what makes them better or worse, your general health, and your goals. We then carry out a physical examination. Once we know what we're dealing with, we explain what we found and what we think is causing the problem before anything else happens. Most first appointments include some initial treatment once we've confirmed it's appropriate for you.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly online — no GP referral required. If anything comes up during your assessment that suggests a different type of care would serve you better, we'll tell you and help you find it.

How many sessions will I need?

Most patients see meaningful improvement within 4–6 sessions. We measure outcomes from your first visit and adjust frequency based on how you're responding. There's no fixed programme — and our goal is always to make you independent, not reliant on ongoing appointments.

What should I wear?

Comfortable, loose clothing you can move around in. For back or lower limb issues, shorts or leggings are useful as we may need to examine your spine or legs. For neck and shoulder problems, a loose top works well. We have a screen for privacy and can provide shorts if needed.

Is the cracking safe? Will it hurt?

The "crack" during a spinal adjustment is simply the release of gas from the joint — not bones grinding or breaking. Spinal manipulation is a well-researched, regulated technique and most patients find it a relief rather than painful. We always explain what we're doing and why, and we never proceed without your consent. If you're uncomfortable with it, there are equally effective alternatives we can use instead.

Do you treat older patients, or just sporty types?

Everyone. We see patients from their teens through to their eighties — athletes, desk workers, people post-surgery, pregnant patients, and those with long-standing pain they've managed for years. Treatment is always adapted to your age, health history, and how your body responds.
